Appearance: A vigorous, thorny, woody vine or sprawling shrub with leathery, ovate leaves and striking, papery bracts in magenta, purple, pink, red, orange, or white. True flowers are small, tubular, and creamy-white, surrounded by the vividly colored bracts.
